Marygrove to Offer Workshop on Sexual Assault Recovery

The next Marygrove College Friday Lunch & Learn Workshop for behavioral health care workers will focus on sexual assault recovery, especially alternative healing practices. If you work in the helping professions, you won’t want to miss this highly interactive workshop:

A (W)Holistic Approach to Sexual Assault Treatment, Friday, April 20, 2012, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Marygrove’s main campus on McNichols in Detroit.

Experts will present on sexual assault basics, trauma, and local and national interventions and programming. But the focus of this unique workshop will center on non-traditional techniques most often used with sexual assault survivors. In fact, participants are encouraged to dress comfortably, bring a personal percussion instrument, and to bring an item or picture of a loved one who has passed away.

The workshop fee of $69 includes all materials, lunch, parking and 5 continuing education hours through MCBAP and/or the MSWCEC. Marygrove College faculty, staff and students can attend for $20. Contact Regina Gordon at 313-927-1219 or rgordon@marygrove.edu to register.
