Spring Seminars for Helping Professionals Announced

Marygrove College’s Division of Continuing Education and Career Enhancement and the Department of Social Work announce the Spring 2013 Applied Professional Education Seminars for behavioral health care workers and addiction specialists. These dynamic, highly interactive seminars will address the specific needs of helping professionals, espcially those working with addiction issues. These practical short forums are affordable – only $49 – and convenient. The seminars for Spring 2013 are:

National Recovery Month may be over but Marygrove College‘s commitment to developing addiction recovery professionals continues. The next workshop in the Applied Professional Education Seminars for Addiction Professionals (and others in the helping professions) series will meet on Friday, October 26th on the beautiful Marygrove College campus. David Sampson, CEO of Detroit’s highly regarded Mariners Inn will speak on The Recovery Community and Peer Support Services from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM.

Sampson is an expert on recovery communities through training and his work at Mariners Inn as both a therapist and administrator over the past 10 years. Mariners Inn is a 24 hour, residential, substance abuse treatment facility for adult, homeless, men of Southeastern Michigan. Continue reading

Workshop for the Helping Professionals Will Focus on Technology and Social Media

The final Friday Lunch & Learn workshop for behavioral health care providers for the 2011/2012 year will focus on the effective use of technology, especially social media, when working with clients. Marygrove College professor Dr. Fayetta Martin will lead participants through an examination of this this cutting edge issue facing anyone who works in the helping professions.
